Web Host Arvixe Launches VPSClass Lite

May 30, 2014
by Staff Writer

Web host Arvixe has launched a new “VPSClass Lite” Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting package which runs Hyper-V and includes “a free domain for life”. The company, which was founded in 2003, offers both Windows and Linux VPS options that target “bloggers, developers and small business owners”. The company also offers Windows and Linux dedicated hosting options and enables its customers to choose the United States or Europe as their server location.

The company’s new “Lite” offerings run on the latest versions of CentOS 6.5 and Windows Server 2012 R2. Its Linux-based option costs users $20 a month while its Windows VPS solution comes in at $30 a month. A basic package comes in at a lower price. However, the low prices reflect the level of knowhow required to operate such a basic VPS service.

Arvixe’s VPSClass Lite does not offer a cPanel or WHM control panel. The company’s fully managed VPS packages – known as VPSClass – cost from $40 a month. Its VPSClass pro option begins at $70 a month and offers cPanel or WHM Control Panel included in the cost.

"Our VPS solutions have always been and will continue to be an integral part of our product portfolio. We're glad to be able to provide to our customers the service and tools necessary for their continued online growth in such a competitive landscape," explained Arvixe’s CEO, Arvand Sabetian.

i remember when getting a decent vps was much more expensive, so it's nice to see options like this becoming available for smaller budgets. the $20/month for linux and $30/month for windows with hyper-v seems pretty competitive for 2014, especially with the free domain thrown in. bloggers and small businesses really benefit from these entry-level options that don't require a huge investment upfront. that said, the article makes a good point about the trade-off - the lower prices reflect that users will need some technical knowhow to manage these more basic vps setups. it's not exactly plug-and-play for someone who's never touched a server before. but for developers or anyone comfortable with command line, this could be a solid starting point. i've been looking into different vps providers lately for a side project, and it's interesting to see how the market has evolved. companies like arvixe filling that gap between shared hosting and more expe
